At the Nintendo Direct in March, Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remake was revealed and was confirmed to be coming to all modern platforms.
Today, Square Enix have confirmed that the game will launch on October 30, alongside confirmation that the game will come to Switch 2 and Xbox Play Anywhere. The title is now confirmed to release on all major platforms - Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S (including Xbox Play Anywhere), Windows and Steam.
There will be digital editions for all platforms, as well as physical editions for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch and Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will be a controversial Game Key-Card; whereas the Switch version of the game will be fully on the cartridge. As Switch 2 is compatible with Switch games, this might leave physical collectors opting for the original hardware variant.

The ‘trouble-free travel kit’ digital pre-order bonus for the game will be available for both the standard and Collector’s Edition of the game:
"¢ One pair of elevating shoes
"¢ Three seeds of strength
"¢ Three seeds of defence
"¢ Three seeds of agility
"¢ Three seeds of life
"¢ Three seeds of magic
Collector's Edition
There will also be a Collector's Edition of Dragon Quest I+II HD-2D Remake which will be a Square Enix Store exclusive, costing $149.99 USD. The Collector’s Edition is available for all consoles and the store page is now live.
The Collector's Edition includes a number of items:
- Physical copy of the game

Players who own the full Erdrick Trilogy (including Dragon Quest I+II HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake) will also receive extra items for the respective games.
