At this point it is questionable is Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka takes a break. Coming off of his recent work The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Kodaka’s next work is already announced for Switch and PC. Kodaka is back to work with familiar partners over at Spike Chunsoft for the latest release, SHUTEN ORDER.
Announced as a multi-genre adventure game, players will play five different game systems within on game. While the announcement trailer looks primarily like a visual novel, the game will include stealth action horror as well.
Kodaka returns to his usual tropes of despair and chaos, although there is no sign of signature character Monokuma in this one. Instead, we are introduced to a religious organization (perhaps a cult) called Shuten Order looking for the end of humanity. They gain traction and form a nation and all seems to be moving until someone murders the Founder.

Players will take control of Rei Shimobe, the resurrected founder who has lost their memories and only has four days to live. For this to be a full resurrection, players must overcome “God’s trial” and discover the truth behind their murder and kill their murderer.
Your suspects are none other than those you most likely previously trusted. That’s right, the murder came at the hands one of the ministers. Each of these suspects comes with their own genre of game:
- Ministry of Justice – Mystery Adventure
- Ministry of Health – Extreme Escape Adventure
- Science – Multi perspective Novel
- Education – Romance Adventure (?)
- Security – Stealth Action Horror

Guided by two self proclaimed angels, can you solve the mystery, survive the genres and get your revenge? SHUTEN ORDER releases on September 5, 2025 and pre-orders are now available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch Store.
