After nearly two years in Early Access on Steam, the co-op top-down twinstick shooter Section 13 will launch a full release later this month. Ocean Drive Studio, the developers of Section 13, dropped a release date announcement trailer on their official YouTube channel, which you can watch below.
Section 13 will fully release on May 26th, 2025, on PC(Steam) as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox. The developers also shared what time the game will be available across different time zones, which we have shared below:
- PT: 10 AM on May 26, 2025
- ET: 1 PM on May 26, 2025
- CEST: 7 PM on May 26, 2025
- ICT: 12 AM on May 27, 2025
- KST: 2 AM on May 27, 2025
On the Section 13 Steam page, the game is described as:
“A roguelite twin-stick shooter that can be played solo or in a group of up to 3 players (crossplay not supported). As an Agent of the S2P Corporation, it’s up to you to investigate a crisis at the most top-secret facility of a company whose whole thing is keeping secrets.
When an Omega-level containment breach puts an off-the-books company black-site on lockdown, it’s up to a small team of expendable peons to get to the bottom of it. Literally.
Tackle the mission solo or with up to two squad-mates. And with optional friendly fire, it’s up to you whether you’d like a more forgiving experience, or chaotic fun with mad-science weapons.”
As of the time of reporting, there is no confirmation of the game’s price changing when it hits full release.
Section 13 has already seen a great deal of new content and changes over the last year or so, as is evidenced by the game’s Early Access roadmap.

In classic roguelike fashion, Section 13 will have players earn temporary upgrades to help on the current run, alongside permanent upgrades to help with future attempts. Strengthen your operative with unlockable and customisable weapons, synthetic enhancements, and “recreational genetic modification”.
Be careful, you are not dealing with run-of-the-mill enemies, so you’ll want to keep an eye on your Fear meter to avoid a mid-run panic attack!
Some people may notice a similarity in premise with another upcoming PvE co-op shooter, Remedy’s FBC Firebreak, which also has teams of 3 players contending with paranormal entities within a top-secret facility, the Oldest House. I don’t think that either game has to worry about the other, and I hope that they both find an audience of passionate players ready to take on the strange events and entities attempting to destroy and/or escape their place of work.
Ocean Drive Studio is the team behind Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, which we reviewed last year, and the recently announced medieval zombie survival game We Are Birmingham.
Section 13 has a demo available to try on PC(Steam)
