We’re only days away from when we thought we’d be getting GTA VI. By now, we all know that isn’t happening. While we have to wait until May 2026 to get a taste of what Grand Theft Auto VI will have in-store for us, the hype train doesn’t have to stop. The GTA VI trailer 2 has officially dropped and there is much to see.
On the day of May 6th, 2025, Rockstar has dropped the next trailer for the game. The new trailer seems to focus more on the story, opening with the female protagonist getting out of prison and showing the two main characters Bonnie and Clyde’s lifestyle inside Vice City that Rockstar has told us about before. Unfortunately, we still don’t have anything in the way of game play as the trailer mainly seems to be cut scenes lifted from the game. The official description from Rockstar is:
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida "” forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

Jason is a man looking for an easier life, working for local drug runners, but hoping for more. Maybe even something new in his life to take the easy road moving forward. Enter Lucia, who is either the worst or best thing to happen to him since his troubled teen years. Time will tell but he knows the ending he’s hoping for, whether it is possible or not.

Lucia has been fighting as long as she has been walking. Freed from Leonida Penitentiary, she’d decided it will be nothing but smart moves moving forward. Not every problem requires her first does it? Like Jason, she’s ready for a good life and knows now is the time to move forward.
Of course Lucia and Jason aren’t the only characters you’ll meet along the way. Highlighted in the trailer is Cal Hampton, Jason’s friend who has a habit of spying on the Coast Guard. Might come in handy in Lucia’s plan. Boobie Ike is another character to get to know on Rockstar’s site. A Vice City legend who is all smiles until it comes down to business. The club, the music business, all his endeavors, paid for with drug money. Probably someone not to cross if you’re smart. So don’t mess with his upcoming star Dre’Quan Priest who is looking to break into music and has his own past as a hustler.

Travel throughout Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga to meet more interesting characters. Will you rob banks with Raul Bautista at the Port? Perhaps you’ll be too busy enjoying a Mudslide at sunset with Brian before setting out to his dirty work in Ambrosia. We’ve gotten only glimpses of these characters between the trailer and the official Rockstar website, so expect more in the coming months.
As we learned last week, the game was delayed out of 2025, and at least at the time of this writing, it is now scheduled to drop on Xbox Series consoles and Playstation 5 on May 26th, 2026. Delays for Rockstar games are pretty common but with any luck the date will hold.
