Developer Ocean Drive Studio have revealed the first gameplay trailer for God Save Birmingham, a new "brutal medieval zombie survival game set in 14th-century Birmingham, England"
The game takes place in a recreated town full of flesh hungry zombies where you are the lone survivor. The game includes physics-based mechanics including furniture barricading, enemy dismemberment and obstacles that you can stumble over during any escapes.
In the trailer we see various survival elements including crafting, limb injuries and more, all that impact gameplay. We also see a section which looks vaguely similar to Resident Evil 4's first village battle with zombies trying to attack our protagonist through a barricaded building. The game looks like it will be challenging with item management being a key factor. The early access build will be a sandbox-type environment and the developers want to work with players to build the game to its full potential.
As Gamer Social Club's resident "˜Brummie' (someone from Birmingham, England) I can confirm that, despite the ongoing bin strikes, this is not a modern representation of the glorious second city. In the games 14th-century depiction, we can expect to see city landmarks that live on today including the Church of St. Martin in the Bull Ring. Thankfully, the game is based long before Villa Park existed.

God Save Birmingham release date and early access
God Save Birmingham is coming to Steam via early access with console releases to follow. In the early access build a small version of the town, approximately one quarter of the map, will be available. The full town will follow in the games main launch, with a campaign mode coming in the future. The only other game I'm aware of which has been based in my beloved home city is Peaky Blinders Mastermind, one of the worst games I've ever played.
