In what seems like a very busy news day, it’d be easy to miss some announcements. Well, we don’t want to you to miss the reveal of Raiders of Blackveil, a new top-down roguelite by Wombo Games.
Why should you care about Wombo Games? Well, not just because you should give every studio and game a chance, but because it’s the first game of the studio. A studio formed by the IO Interactive co-founder and ex-Square Enix chief Creative Officer, Janos Flösser.
Raiders of Blackveil is a top-down “pulse-pounding” roguelite that is all about mastering champions, combining synergistic perks, and acquiring powerful loot. Take on the challenge alone or in a team of up to 3 players. Creating the best team synergy is vital to success. "¨
The game is set in an dystopian industrial factory where animals are being oppressed by the presumably evil, human mega corporation, Blackveil. Raiders of Blackveil will see you join the animal rebellion and attempt to overthrow the villainous Blackveil.
You’ll select from MOBA-inspired champions, each with their own unique playstyle and abilities. You’ll play as either a tank, damage dealer, or support class. Join forces with up to three players. You’ll create unique builds from over 300 perks, which you’ll combine with the right class to create combos.
Speaking about the game, Flösser commented:
“Wombo Games has been developing Raiders of Blackveil for nearly two years so it’s surreal to finally be able to announce it, and Wombo Games, to the world.”
“Raiders of Blackveil is our first title so it’s very special to us. It is a blueprint of our studio because every person at Wombo has contributed directly to its development. At Wombo, we make decisions by consensus, and plan to continue that with feedback from our players once we launch in early access later this year.”
