Last week we reported on Diablo IV's 2025 roadmap, including a breadth of content and seasons that will keep new and returning players satisfied throughout this year. Updates will include various seasonal updates, console keyboard and mouse support, new powers and much more.

Now, General Manager of the Diablo franchise, Rod Fergusson, has confirmed in an interview with Gamefile that there are bigger plans for the game that will last for many years to come. When asked what the plans for the franchise are, he had the following to say;
"We’re here for the long haul. We’ve been doing long-range planning recently. And I’ve created a roadmap"”a 10-year roadmap...it was actually a 12-year [roadmap]"”I can see this, this, this and this and all these different things that we can do, [which] is really inspiring. And it’s really exciting. We're focused on what players want...I can't tell you much more than that.""
Though we don't know much about what will be released from next year onwards, we know that there will be a new major expansion to Diablo IV at some point in 2026.
Diablo IV’s future
New big content drops for Diablo 4 shouldn't come as a surprise, following the success of expansions in previous franchise entries, as well as the impressive Diablo 4 IV: Vessel of Hatred, which we scored an 8.5/10 in our review. Furthermore, with the development time of games increasingly taking longer and longer, expansions to existing games with a pre-existing strong player base seem a wise decision.
What we do know is that the studio are working hard to take on board player feedback and embed it into the game. Diablo IV had a positive launch, but since then, it has wrangled with a disgruntled player base. Diablo Game Director recently commented, "Your thoughts on what lies beyond are crucial. We're so thankful to be building Sanctuary alongside you".
For those of you who are yet to try out an entry in the Diablo series, Diablo IV is available in Xbox Game Pass. Alternatively, if you are a PlayStation gamer, the game is PS5 Pro enhanced. There has been no news on a Switch 2 port of Diablo IV but given Microsoft's ambitions to get games on all platforms, that would seem likely - Diablo III was released on the Nintendo Switch.
