What We’re Excited for at London Games Festival

This week, the Gamer Social Club UK crew is heading to London for London Games Fest's New Game Plus - a new two-day "˜boutique games expo'. London Games Festival is the UK's biggest game event, with 100,000 visitors in 2024.

At New Game Plus, around 70 playable games from around the world will be on show to the public including some for the first time. There's a diverse range of titles on offer that the four UK GSC contributors are looking forward to seeing. Gamer Social Club are very passionate about showing support to new games and upcoming developers, including our monthly Demo Disc article which puts spotlight on demos for lesser known titles.

Lushfoil Photography Sim

  • Developer: Matt Newell
  • Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
  • Release date: April 15 2025
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), Xbox Series X/S, PS5

I've had my eyes on Lushfoil ever since it was revealed. I'm by no means a photographer but I truly believe that video games are, and can create, art. The game tasks players with taking stunning virtual photos of beautiful biomes in what looks the most beautiful looking game I've ever seen. I've never seen a game like Lushfoil, it oozes tranquillity and I expect it will be my "˜cosy' game in the near future.

to a T

  • Developer: uvula
  • Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
  • Release date: 2025
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), Xbox Series X/S, PS5

An episodic 3D adventure game that places players as a kid, stuck in a unique "˜T' posture (arms constantly at full wingspan), who is trying to live a normal life. The game features exploration, an episodic story spaced over multiple days and minigames. It is certainly very cute, and like Lushfoil, unlike any game I've seen before. As someone who has so much admiration for the creative freedom Annapurna allow developers to have, I'm really excited to see how the game plays at NGP London.

Passant: A Chess Roguelike

  • Developer: Marc Makes Games
  • Publisher: Marc Makes Games
  • Release Date: TBC
  • Platforms: PC

I've been a big fan of chess ever since I started playing it in the pub toward the end of 2021. However, it's got to be said, beer doesn't always make for the best thinking fuel so I don't know if I'd say I'm particularly good at chess. Roguelikes are something I'm a big fan of and would consider myself to be pretty good at, so obviously I'm looking forward to Passant: A Chess Roguelike from Marc Makes Games. It's got a fun demo currently on Steam and I'm really excited to see more of the game.

Spirits of Heartwood

  • Developer: Panda Cat Games
  • Publisher: Panda Cat Games
  • Release Date: TBC
  • Platforms: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC

Panda Cat Games is a new studio made up of veteran developers from studios like Rocksteady and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Their debut game Spirits of Heartwood is a little co-op adventure game with incredibly cosy vibes. Over the past few months I've been diving into a lot more co-op experiences with other team members from the site, and this looks like another gem to try out. There's not a huge amount of details yet – but that's what New Game Plus is for!

The Electrifying Incident

  • Developer & Publisher: Draknek and Friends
  • Release Date: April 2025
  • Platforms: PC

I love a good puzzle game, especially one that sticks to a few simple mechanics with escalating complexity. The Electrifying Incident is exactly that; a top-down, sci-fi, "bite-size" puzzle game that will test your grey matter! Use your extendable claw arm to pick up, move, and put down blocks to navigate a malfunctioning scientific facility, and try not to get electrocuted!

Crescent County

  • Developer & Publisher: Electric Saint
  • Release Date: TBA
  • Platforms: PC and Xbox Series

I can't wait to take my tricked-out motorbroom for a spin in Crescent County, the new witchtech open world driving/drifting/life sim game from Electric Saint. There's to be a whole host of activities to do across the colourful landscape, from making deliveries and racing against your friends, to decorating your home and going on dates! Getcha motor(broom) runnin'!

ZOE Begone!

  • Developer & Publisher: Retchy Games and PM Studios
  • Release Date: TBC
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox

Hand drawn bullet hell! What else do you need to know? Sounds like this game is going to be a lot of fun, and hopefully something you can pick up and have dabble when you maybe don't want to focus on a story. It sounds super fun, and it looks great, inspired by the 1930s animation drawn-on-film, it looks to be one of those games that'll be very much "just one more go".

Hyper Sentinel: Fusion

  • Developer & Publisher: Huey Games Ltd
  • Release Date: TBC
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox

Classic 90s style shooter, with roguelite elements sounds really intriguing. It looks to have those massive screen-dominating bosses, along with some frantic shooting and exploration. Reminds me of a lot of games I used to play on the Mega Drive (Genesis) back in the day (not that I can remember any of their names!).

Further London Games Festival coverage

GSC Contributors are really excited for the London Games Festival, and will be speaking to developers and publishers about their new titles. If there are games from the available titles that you would like us to cover at the event, please let us know in the comments.
