At todays Nintendo Direct we have seen a reveal of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake which will launch in 2025 on all modern platforms.

Following the HD-2D remake of the Dragon Quest III which launched in 2024, we now have a reveal of its predecessors I & II. The titles continue the Erdick Trilogy narrative of the much loved JRPG series, though all games can be played standalone. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake was a huge sales success for Square Enix, crossing the 2 million sales mark in less than a month.

The remake will be launching on all major current platforms later this year, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Steam and Windows PC. At the time of the announcement, it has not been confirmed if a Switch 2 edition of the game will be released but we will likely hear more in the coming weeks with the Switch 2 full reveal next week.
