Strategic Healing
Even if you’ve only done a couple of runs in the Beyond, you’ll have noticed that healing is in short supply. The only way to heal yourself (and other Immortals) is visiting the Bone Shrines next to the Torture Chambers. Once at each Bone Shrine, you can spend 25 of the Bones you have collected during the run to heal yourself and nearby teammates.
Here’s where it gets interesting! In each realm of the Beyond you visit there are 12 Torture Chambers, which means there are a dozen Bone Shrines to use as well. From the beginning of your run, all the Bone Shrines are active, meaning they can be used at any time up until the Ascension Battles.

This means that, as long as you have the Bones to spend, you can heal yourself up to 12 times during a single run, and the same goes for all players. While 33 Immortals may not make it obvious, there is ample opportunity to get your health back.
We would recommend making a detour to a Bone Shrine on your way to one of the Ascension Battles; it’s your last chance to use one, and you want as much health as possible for the boss.
Combo-ing Co-op Powers
No doubt you have been making use of your Co-op Powers, and those of your fellow Rebel Souls. Each weapon has its own type of Co-op Power, and while each one is powerful on its own, they can become devastating if done in succession.
The easiest way to achieve this is to coordinate with your party (hopefully you’re in a voice chat together) so you can plan accordingly. An easy one to start with is having a Daggers user activate their Greedy Strikes Co-op Power with a Bow user, giving them both more damage based on how many Bones they are currently holding. Next, have the Bow user activate their Volley of Arrows Co-op Power with two other players. Now the Bow user’s Volley of Arrows hits harder thanks to the Greedy Strikes buff.

The other benefit of the Greedy Strikes Co-op Power is that those who have the buff earn more Bones for hitting enemies, so the Bow user can increase the Volley of Arrows‘ attack by collecting the Bones dropped by enemies hit by their Co-op Power!
If you want to take it to the next level, have a Staff user start with their Super Slow Co-op Power, hurting and greatly slowing a bunch of enemies before the Daggers and Bow users go to work!
Empathy: What Does It Do?
All Immortals have three stats called Characteristics: Attack, Vitality, and Empathy. The first two are pretty self explanatory, with Vitality increasing a player’s max health, and Attack increasing… well, a player’s attack power. But Empathy is different, and relates directly to what is at the core of 33 Immortal’s design – player cooperation.

Empathy increases the power of your Co-op powers, as well as the damage of your Co-Strikes. You start your Co-Strike counter in the top right corner of the UI when hitting an enemy being hit by at least one other player. Each consectuive hit builds the counter, increasing your critical hit chance, but you will lose your Co-Strikes buff if you stop hitting enemies and the meter drains.
While Vitality and Attack should probably be your priority when improving your Characteristics either temporarily or permanently, when you consider what we talked about earlier with combo-ing Co-op Powers, Empathy should not be overlooked!
Upgrading Weapons
Once you hit Feat Level 6, you gain access to Weapon Upgrades. These are accessed by pressing left on the D-pad near while standing next to the respective weapon’s plinth.

You will need to collect Upgrade Tokens during your runs in the Beyond in order to unlock the different upgrades you can equip to your weapon, but you can use Eternal Shards to increase a particular stat.
- Sword – Vitality
- Bow – Attack
- Daggers – Critical Attack Damage
- Staff – Empathy
You start with one Loot Slot to equip a Weapon Upgrade in, and a second one can be unlocked using 1000 Eternal Shards and 5 Paragons. Find the Weapon Upgrades that work for your playstyle, or maybe discover a new way to slay!

Teleporting
It’s pretty likely you have already done a few runs, maybe even reached the Inferno‘s boss, without ever using a Teleportation Stone. Using one of these items, which can be purchased from Bone Shrines using Bones, lets you teleport from where you are to any other Immortal in the run with you.
To do this, open your map by holding the left trigger (LT) and use the right thumbstick to highlight another living Immortal. Once you have made your selection, hold down the right shoulder button (RB) to use the Teleportation Stone and appear next to your chosen Rebel Soul.

Teleportation, as I’m sure you can imagine, can come in very handy! Not only can you use it to move to any point on the map where there is another player, helping you reunite with your party or meet up with other Immortals, especially when the Ascension Battles begin.
Keep Teleportation in mind as we move onto the last Tip for this article, it could be what makes or breaks a successful run!
Boss Relics
Finally, let’s talk about Boss Relics! You earn these from beating the Ascension Battles that happen after the 12 Torture Chambers have been cleared. The Boss Relics are specific to the boss fight you are about to enter, effect everyone in the encounter, and are incredibly strong! You can see which Boss Relics you have on the right hand side of the UI, and you can look through all your Relics by pressing down on the D-pad.
But you can only get one for each Acension Battle and you can only fight in one of those before making your Ascension, right?

In fact, with the power of Teleportation, you can get technically get 3 Boss Relics before entering the boss fight! After finishing your Ascension Battle, and as long as you have at least one Teleportation Stone, you can open your map and teleport to another player in one of the other Ascension Battles! If enough players have the same idea, you should be able to get at least two fo the Boss Relics, and who doesn’t want that?
33 Immortals is a fascinating take on the roguelike genre, built upon recognisable foundations supporting creative new systems and a focus on co-operative multiplayer. You can read our Early Access Review of 33 Immortals to learn more.
