Avowed has been out for just over a week, and the updates are coming thick and fast! Obsidian’s latest release has received another patch, only five days after the last one. It was announced on the studio’s official blog, with a preface thanking their fans for their “patience and support”.
We have a dedicated team focused on making Avowed better and better,” reads the post, “and we'll have more to announce soon.” This is no doubt in reference to comments made by the game’s Creative Director Carrie Patel, who spoke about future plans for the game in an interview with Bloomberg‘s Jason Schreier.

Avowed’s Patch 1.2.4 brings updates and fixes to all parts of the game, from specific quest based changes to UI/UX improvements. Here are a few key patch notes that feel worth highlighting, but you can read up on all the changes coming to the Living Lands here.
- Adjusted character settings so that unkillable characters will now respawn if they mysteriously die, preventing blocked quest progression.
- Bounty Masters in Dawnshore, Shatterscarp, and Galawain's Tusks now correctly allow players to turn in bounties, even if they have acquired more trophy items than expected.
- Companions now assist in combat more reliably.
- Fixed jittering of player hair and armor when afflicted by Poison Accumulation.
- Expanded controller rebind options
- Launching Avowed with DirectX 11 is now disabled, as the game does not support it.
- Logging into Xbox Network on Steam no longer resets the player’s selected language setting.
Avowed currently sits at a Metacritic score of 81 and an Opencritic score of 82, and received a high score from our review, which you can read here.
