You can do this at any point assuming you don’t already have your trusty steed from the beginning of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Before we get into this I’d recommend doing some grinding and getting either your persuasion or coercion up before doing this. I recommend a 6 on either at the bare minimum, but more is always better. Remember, in this game, you get better by doing, so the more speech checks you do, the faster you’ll get these states up. You could always just cheese the game an save right before the speech check, too.

Anyway, starting from Troskowits, move Southwest until you reach Semine. Before you reach the main part of town, there’s a horse stable off to the south that you will find the horse you started the game with, Pebbles, who was sold by some random person who apparently found them after you were ambushed.

Approach the horse and you’ll be given the chance to interact with said horse and recognize the fact that this is in fact your horse from earlier. Assuming you’ve done this during the day Groom Ballatay should be near by either leaning against the wall of the barn or possibly wandering around if it’s early enough.

Talking to Ballatay will give you the ability to enter a speech skill check. At this point depending on which of your skills is higher, persuasion or corersion will effect which way you go. If at this point neither is very high you can simply buy the horse as well, but I would just save the game(Save and quit and reload if your out of Saviour Schnapps)and keep attemting it until it works like I mentioned before.

That’s it. Congrats you have your(hopefully free) Pebbles back. Make sure to save before you get ambushed on a travel somewhere.
