The One Piece is real! So is the rumor that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is coming to next gen consoles. Initially released in 2020, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has sold more than 4 million copies as of February 2025. The move to next generation consoles will allow for more sales and a larger audience to jump into the series. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 made a point to grow and expand to new audiences, being the first Pirate Warriors entry to be released on Xbox consoles. With this next-gen update, players who already own the PS4 or Xbox One versions can anticipate a free upgrade.
Bandai Namco has also announced that they will continue to produce DLC for the game to introduce additional characters. Upcoming DLC plans include letting fans voting for which character should join the roster. Fan votes are currently open and plan to be open through February 28, 2025, although this date can change. Anyone with a Bandai Namco account can vote from a choice of 23 potential characters. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for free to get your vote in. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 currently has 61 playable characters with 43 of these characters being base game characters. Fans can expect more characters to come through future DLC.
Fans of the anime series may recognize story points from the Wano arc. However, the plot of the game will seem different to manga readers. The arc has an original ending from the manga so fans of the series can expect some differences along the way. If you have not yet caught up on the series, prepare for some spoilers.
