Every time I speak about Atomfall or Sniper: Elite Resistance I inevitably talk about how excited I am for both of these games. Rebellion are on to a winning 2025 in my eyes. With Sniper Elite: Resistance getting great reviews (from us at the very least), I have high hopes for Atomfall.
If you’ve missed the Atomfall news, it’s an upcoming first-person, single player survival action game, set in early 60s Britiain. Taking place in the north of England, the game is inspired by the real-life Windscale nuclear disaster, taking place five years after.
Building on that event, it takes influnece from science fiction, such as early Doctor Who, and The Day of the Triffids. It also draws on folk horror and Cold War influences, creating a mystery that you will need to solve.

You will have explore the lovely looking landscape (oof that alliteration) as you explore underground caves, nuclear research labs and fight off ne’erdowells with ranged and melee combat.
The trailer gives us a good ol’ gander at some of the weapons, including firearms, a cricket bat, and a stun baton / taser type affair. You’ll also be equipped with a metal detector to help you find resources to craft new materials and items, such as Molotov Cocktails!
Atomfall is releasing on 27 March 2025 and will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles. It is also launching day one on to Xbox Game Pass. There is a deluxe edition available which grants you a number of bonuses, including a forthcoming story DLC expansion and three days early access.
There’s also a “Quarantine Edition” version on the Rebellion store. It’s Steam only and you get a pretty nifty (trying for all the British idioms) Wickerman t-shirt (which I really want!, where’s the console version?!).
