Capcom has released their spotlight for February alongside their Monster Hunter Wilds showcase. Below are the highlights of this double header!
Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 announced their next guest fighter Mai Shiranui coming Feb 5th. If you recognize the name, it’ll be due to her time in Fatal Fury. Mai is known for quick attacks and agile movements so be prepared to take her on. Along with her release there will be a fighting pass with customization items related to Mai and SNK’s Fatal Fury series. The final character from the Year 2 pass will be Elena and more details will be released in the future.

Japan Vibes
We received another teaser for the Okami project. Capcom confirmed that this is a sequel with Hideki Kamiya as the game director. While there is not much more available at this time, it’s still worth getting excited for if you’re a fan of the original. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any Okami news.
Capcom also shared that Kunitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess is now available. This action/strategy game will also have you visiting the Japanese inspired world in this now available game. This is available on Game Pass, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows, Steam, and Playstation 4 & 5. The demo is now available for anyone who may interested in viewing this.

Okami HD and Kunitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess are now available as a bundle from Capcom for those looking to take a deep dive into these games.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (2026)
A new entry in the Onimusha series is on it’s way next year. This action sword fighting game is promising that it will not be impossibly difficult but still exciting. The game is looking to focus on three very important elements: compelling characters and interesting enemies, Kyoto with its history and unsettling backstories, and of course, sword fighting action. The protagonist will be wielding an oni gauntlet and will need to continue to feed the gauntlet on their journey. This won’t just make you feel bad about feeding an oni as this feeding will also restore your health and allow you to use special moves. Onimusha Way of the Sword is available to wish list on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S now.

If you can’t wait until then to sink into an Onimusha game, Onimusha 2 Samurai’s Destiny will have a remaster available later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam.
Monster Hunter Wilds
While much of the above news is exciting, with Monster Hunter Wilds due out later this month, this was a lot of the big news for today. Due out February 28th, the new trailer shown highlighted some of the fighting you can expect to take part in. The trailer gave insight into more of the customization options and the overall story being told. In Iceshard Cliffs, a new region, we’ll also be meeting a new monster in Hirabami. There will be a few recognizable ones along the way, but they promise some additional monsters coming soon.

We also learned more about the beta tests coming later this month. GSC previously covered some impressions from the first beta test. However, this test promises new experiences. During these tests you’ll be able to fight Arkveld, the flagship monster in this region. We’ll have access to the training area and be able to try out some online features including private lobbies to connect with friends who are also playing. Online single mode is also available for those who want to play without joining a lobby. The beta promises the ability to try many areas of play including cross-platform multiplayer, something many hunters have wanted. Game progression will not carry over but those who take on the beta test will get an item pack in the full game as well as a charm to show off your time in the beta test.

This is just the beginning of all they have planned for Monster Hunter Wilds. The Monster Hunter Wilds showcase also promised many cosmetics to come, including a Cosmetic DLC pass. The deluxe pack and premium bonuses will be available with game release. However you can then look for cosmetic packs in Spring 2025 and Summer 2025. Cosmetic packs can also be purchased separately and later updates will share more information.
Wilds also promises limited time quests where you can earn armor with special looks to keep you coming back week after week. These will begin the week after the game releases with more information in the coming weeks. This promises to be a big release for Capcom and I know we’re hoping it will live up to the hype. Happy hunting!
Monster Hunter Wilds will be on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam February 28, 2025.
While many Capcom fans may not be happy to have a spotlight without information on the next Resident Evil, overall this was a solid showing for Capcom. Be sure to circle back to us for our Monster Hunter Wilds review in the coming weeks. GSC will also keep you updated on Capcom news and updates as they are available.
