Arlo’s quest for vengeance doesn’t leave much time for hobbies like fishing, but it wont’ stop him from helping others enjoy their favorite pastimes. One character seeking help is a heron called Ernest, who has misplaced his fishing rod somewhere in the Golden Forest. Reuniting the heron with his fishing rod also unlocks the “Find the Heron’s Fishing Rod” trophy/achievement, so let’s do our best to help our feathered friend!
Step One
After completing the main quest for the Golden Forest and unlocking the fast travel sognposts, head back down out of Nestminster and head to the left to see Ernest in front of the bridge out of the settlement. He asks Arlo to find his fishing rod and then leaves for his fishing spot in the far left of the map.
Step Two
Don’t follow Ernest to the left, instead head right out of Nestminster and go towards the Bug Farm you passed when first arriving in the Golden Forest.
Head inside and speak with the shop keep behind the counter. Under the ingredients tab they are selling a jar of honey for three coins. We need this to continue this task, so buy it.
Step Three
For the next step, head down underground to the bottom right side of the Golden Forest area. The quickest route is using the ladder in the well next to the bug farm. Stay to the right and head down a second ladder. There is a small tunnel under the second ladder you need to crawl through.
Once you are through the tunnel, you’ll find yourself in one of the mole people’s underground bunkers. Ignore all the blinking technology and head up the ladder on the right side of the room. There is a mole using Ernest’s fishing rod to put honey on his food without getting his paws sticky. Give him the jar of honey you bought and he will trade it for the fishing rod and some other goodies!
Step Four
Now all there is left to do is return the fishing rod to Ernest! Fast travel to the Abandoned Rangers Camp and head to the left to find the heron standing by the riverbank. Speak with him to return his precious fishing rod to complete your task.
Congratulations, You have successfully reunited Ernest the heron with his fishing rod! With that you have unlocked the “Find the Heron’s Fishing Rod” trophy/achievement, well done!
