As part of The Sims’ 25th anniversary, EA has released legacy editions of both The Sims and The Sims 2 today! Available now on Steam for Windows 10/11, each one costing £24.99/$29.99, or as part of the 25th Birthday Bundle for £34.99/$39.99. The announcement was made earlier today via a post to The Sims official social media accounts.
Rumours started swirling that something was happening with these two titles in the last few weeks. Fans of the original simulation series will be pleased to know that each version comes with all their expansion packs included, and a Sims 4 themed pack as a bonus. Both games have been given similar summaries, but here is the original Sims’ description for those not familiar with the series.
“The original game you know and love. Create a neighborhood of Sims and guide their lives through careers and romance — or create chaos with open-ended gameplay that lets you shape their destinies.”
The Sims, developed by Maxis and published by EA, has been a staple of PC gaming, and even broke records officially recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. It has been estimated that the Sims series has sold over 70 million units since it began in 2000.
I wonder how many people will return to this classic series just to drown someone in a swimming pool by deleting the ladder?
