Hazelight Announces Split Fiction, Coming In 2025

Hazelight Studio Head Josef Fares has become a fan favourite at the Game Awards over the years, not just for his personality, but for his studios amazing games. So it’s only fitting that he debuted his next co-op adventure at The Game Awards tonight titled Split Fiction.

While the night is typically full of surprises, Split Fiction wasn’t as surprising as it probably should have been. It had been rumoured for a week or so now and Hazelight let it be known they would be revealing their next game via a social media post on Tuesday. Nevertheless seeing it for the first time was still special.

Split Fiction is a unique blend between sci-fi and fantasy. The main characters are writers of each genre and will see each level go back and forth between the the 2 genres.

In typical Hazelight fashion Split Fiction will once again feature their patented split screen co-op experience. The game will only be playable in co-op as Fares himself has said in the past how important playing and experiencing a game with a friend or loved one is.

Split Fiction is the first game from Hazelight since 2021’s It Takes Two. It Takes Two not only won the 2021 Game Of The Year award at The Game Awards, but it has since gone on to sell a staggering 20 million copies. The studio also previously released A Way Out. As is the case with their previous two games, Split Fiction will be published by EA Originals.

Split Fiction will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC on March 6th 2025. As is the case with all Hazelight games, only 1 person will need to purchase the game. That person can invite their co-op partner without purchasing the title.
