Fabraz, the Indie developer behind critical darlings Demon Turf and Slime-San, has teased something for the Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition on December 11th. It is likely tied to their next game, currently codenamed Project Tides, which was originally teased at the Guerrilla Collective in June of this year.

On December 7th a post was uploaded to the official Fabraz social media accounta, with a date and a short repeating clip. The footage is distorted similarly to an old CRT television, giving a retro vibe that has become a calling card of Fabraz’s games. It shows a bright 3D seaside environment and the Project Tides logo in the corner.
Project Tides has a Steam page with the original teaser trailer, and describes the game as “a 3D Platformer with a move-set deeper, more versatile and more customizable than ever before! All set in a large, non-linear open world ocean filled with secrets & rewards to uncover.”

This will sound familiar to fans of Fabraz’s previous titles Demon Turf and Slime-San, which were love letters to classic platformers of the N64 and NES/SNES eras respectively. Games that welcome and reward experimentation and exploration in equal measure, great examples of the “easy to learn, hard to master” variety of video games. As someone who enjoyed, but by no means mastered Fabraz’s previous release Demon Turf, I will be sure to tune in!

With a release date of TBA 2025, and the Steam page stressing there will be an official game announcement made “sometime soon”, I am certain that December 11th 2024 will a big day for Fabraz and Project Tides.
