As part of the PlayStation 30th anniversary celebrations, Sony have just revealed a brand new, free-to-play title in the long-running Gran Turismo franchise, My First Gran Turismo.
Taking to the PlayStation Blog to make the announcement, Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital, and Creator of Gran Turismo, describes My First Gran Turismo as a “special free-to-play- invitation to dive into the exhilarating world of motorsports.”
Going on, Yamauchi says:
This experience holds a special place in my heart, as it pays tribute to the origins of the first Gran Turismo, where players of all generations discovered the joys of driving. Whether it’s introducing kids to the joy of racing for the first time or reigniting a forgotten passion for driving,"¯My First Gran Turismo"¯was designed to be both approachable and immersive, created for everyone, with no limits on age or driving skill level.Â

The game will let you play three race events, three time trials, three ‘Music Rally’ stages, as well as take a complete array of ‘Licence Tests’, all designed to let you “experience the thrill of driving”. The game will have 18 unique cars and three courses:
- Kyoto Driving Park
- Deep Forest Raceway
- Trial Mountain Circuit

Excitingly, for me anyhow, My First Gran Turismo has also been confirmed to have full PS VR2 support, meaning that if you are yet to jump into GT7 and wanted a taste of what Gran Turismo VR has to offer, then have at it!!!
It seems My First Gran Turismo is very much designed as a means of getting a taste of what the motorsport simulator has to offer. It’s a great idea to bring new customers in to the genre.
My First Gran Turismo launches on Friday 6 December for PS4, PS5, with PS VR 2 support.
Will you be giving this one a go? I will be diving into the PS VR2 version for definite.
