The president of FromSoftware, and the world’s biggest fan of poison swamps, Hidetaka Miyazaki, announced that the studio is working on several new projects.

Speaking at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia, the director of 2022’s GOTY Elden Ring said “We're not really considering developments such as an Elden Ring 2.” However, he did make it clear that the studio was open to returning to their most successful game “in some form in the future.”
While nothing has been shared about the projects currently being developed, Miyazaki did say that they were diverse in genre, and that he was heading up some of them.
While FromSoftware have certainly made a name for themselves creating and popularising the “souls-like” genre, they are no strangers to other genres, or platforms, with them releasing the PSVR title Déraciné back in 2018.
It has been another busy year for FromSoftware. They released the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring in late June (read our review HERE), and it has been nominated for the Game of the Year award at this year’s Game Awards on December 13th. It’s inclusion has caused quite the stir amongst the gaming community, with many questioning a DLC or expansion should be considered alongside full game releases.

With the return of the Armoured Core franchise last year, it seems possible that one of these projects could be another entry in one of FromSoft’s IPs. While there will be plenty of fans who would welcome a 4th entry in the Dark Souls series, I can only imagine that Bloodborne fans are getting antsy. Only last month it was reported that Sony were looking to acquire Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware. We can only begin to imagine what an acquisition like that could bring!
The earliest I imagine we will hear anything about what FromSoft are cooking up is next year, but you can be sure that we will report on it as soon as any official details come to light.
