Space Marine 2 has been one of the breakout hits of 2024, and the numbers continue to back that up as the game has now seen 5 million players join the ranks of the Ultramarines.

The 5 million player announcement comes via a blog post on publisher Focus Entertainment's forum along with a host of other updates regarding what's coming next to Space Marine 2. This new player count comes about 2 months after the games release. If you recall just after release, Focus Entertainment announced the game had already sold 2 million units. This means they've seen an increase of 3 million since then.
Recently Space Marine 2 was nominated for 2 awards at the upcoming Game Awards for Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer Game. Based on our review we'd say these nominations are justified after calling Space Marine 2 "an incredible game and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a good old fashion 3rd person shooter."
Incoming Patch 5.0
As for what's on the horizon for Space Marine 2 we can expect patch 5.0 to drop sometime in December. This update will include a new Operation "Obelisk" where you will be sent to Demerium. Your mission in Demerium willl be to rotate a replica of the obelisk to disrupt the flow of energy protecting the Aurora device. As usual the operation missions run parallel to the main campaign and Obelisk will be no different, running parallel to the end of the campaign.
Patch 5.0 will also see the long awaited additions of the Dark Angels Chapter pack which features the Dark Angels Champion, a unique armor set and banner for the Bulwark Class.

There will also be many new customization options coming with patch 5.0 as well as some technical upgrades in the form of Frame Generation DLSS and FSR 3 support.
All in, patch 5.0 is shaping up to be a large content update and with award season in full swing Space Marine 2 might just pick up some hardware along the way as many continue to join the fight to protect the Emperor.
