How To Find The Sword In The Stone In Drova – Forsaken Kin

Check out our review for Drova – Forsaken Kin HERE, and find out why it’s a CRPG worthy of (a lot of) your time!

There are a lot of cool and powerful weapons to find and wield in Drova – Forsaken Kin, incredible debut title from Indie studio Just2D. While you can find good gear being sold by merchants or dropped by your foes on defeat, the best and most rewarding tend to be found exploring this deep pixel-art world. But one weapon, one singular blade lodged in a rock, is the prize to be found at the end of this guide; the Rune Blade!

“Whoso pulleth out this sword from this stone…”

A clear homage to the Arthurian legend, the Rune Blade is Drova – Forsaken Kin’s Excalibur in all but name. Your quest for this sacred sword starts at the humble Woodcutter’s Camp.

A quick note: you will need the spell Misty Step in order to reach the Rune Blade, thankfully it’s only for 2 uses.

Details of the Misty Step spell.

World Map:

Red line shows the route to the Rune Stone (the gap is the cave section).

1.

The Woodcutter’s Camp

Travel North from the Woodcutter’s Camp, and keep an eye out for one of the shrines.

The shrine North of the Woodcutter’s Camp.

You want to make your way through the shallow waters looking for a narrow strip of land below a rocky cliff. Walk up here to find and enter a cave.

Be ready for a few cave critters!

2.

Take the left path and make your way through to the exit.

In the cave follow the left path, dealing with the occasional rock troll along the way.

Follow the footprints!

There are more traces of footprints you can follow using your investigation mode, but you shouldn’t need them.

Exiting the cave, head to the South East until you reach a temple ruin you need to walk round.

Head to the right until you reach some small, overgrown ruins.

Walk round to the other side of the temple (or deal with the harpies inside, adventurer’s choice) and continue to the right. Once you reach some small ruins, turn South.

At these ruins head South.

There are more footprints here, use these to guide you until you’ve gone down two slopes.

Head down two slopes, following the footprints if needed.

After the second slope keep going down, the footprints will turn to go West, just ignore them.

3.

Poor guy, so close yet so far.

Walking down by the water’s edge you may spy your prize with no more guidance. But to make it clear, if you find this corpse clutching a sad note you are in the right place!

There it is!

Just to the right, across the water, is Drova – Forsaken Kin’s Excalibur! You will need to use the Misty Step spell to cross the water, and finally become King of Engla- I mean, acquire the Rune Blade!

Details of the Rune Blade.

Congratulations! You now have the Rune Blade, the second strongest sword in Drova – Forsaken Kin! What’s that? You want to know where the STRONGEST sword is? Well…

Bonus!

It’s actually much easier to get the best sword in the game; it’s being sold by Ede at the Ruin Raider’s Camp, in the caves near the Ripper Head Inn.

Hope you’ve got a lot of coin, it ain’t cheap!

And here’s the kicker; it’s another reference! With it’s glassy blue blade and lunar traits, the Moon Sword is a wonderful homage to the Moonlight Greatsword, a weapon seen in many of Fromsoft’s titles.

Behold! The Moon Sword (and its details).

Two swords from two other worlds, what are the odds?
