A Guide To The Bloodborne Themed Quest In Drova – Forsaken Kin

Check out our review for Drova – Forsaken Kin HERE, and find out why it’s a CRPG worthy of (a lot of) your time!

There are over 100 quests to experience in Drova – Forsaken Kin. The developers at Just2D made sure there was a range in length and complexity; from spearing fish for an old lady, to exploring underground ruins to help a group of dungeon delvers find relics. Many quests affect one another or have multiple ways to complete the them, reinforcing the realistic and immersive nature of the game. But one quest, ‘Dreams of another World’, stands out from the rest. A standalone quest wreathed in the nightmarish nature of the critically acclaimed Bloodborne.

That’s right, a full quest inspired by one of the most popular Souls-like games developed by FromSoftware (who released Shadow of the Erdtree, an expansion to the 2022 GOTY Elden Ring, earlier this year). ‘Dreams of another World’ isn’t too long, but is tricky due to the vague clues. It is also tied to the trophy/achievement ‘Beware of the Old Blood’.

Details for the ‘Dreams of Another World’ quest.

Alright, with all that out of the way, let’s join the hunt!

World Map

Points of interest for the quest.

1.

You want to first find Lorthiz, an NPC who you can find early on near the Woodcutter’s Camp, but is situated next to the Ripper Head Inn for most of the game and this quest. He is dealing with strange dreams that feature you, and he asks you to help make sense of these strange visions.

Lorthiz the map seller and dreamer.

The gist of the quest is to visit three locations and collect the three Strange Fossils, perfect simulacrums of the Umbilical Cord items from Bloodborne.

The Strange Fossils.

The first Strange Fossil can be found deep in the Red Moor. Take the road East from the Ripper Head Inn until you reach the bridge. Turn South and follow the river as best you can to head straight down to where a decaying corpse lies by a deep pool. Interact with it to get your first Strange Fossil.

(Note: I missed the opening for this quest with Lorthiz and found this Fossil before starting it. He speaks about seeing a woman grieving her children and my character explained it was a witch. Not what I experienced, but glad it didn’t affect the quest.)

Search the corpse for the 1st Strange Fossil.

2.

Return to Lorthiz and he will talk more about his dreams, as they grow weirder and he gets more agitated. He hands you Leru’s First Dream Drawing which depicts a crypt (Leru is possibly the name of the Great One who is sending Lorthiz his dreams).

Leru’s First Dream Drawing.

The second Strange Fossil is found in the underground caverns near to the Ruin Raiders camp. There are several entrances and ways to reach the Ruin Raiders, but explaining all that as well would make this article twice as long. I’ve shown below a quick way to access the cave system, but you can also pursue a quest with the Innkeeper Olaf to link up with the Ruin Raiders.

There’s a hole in the fence next to the shed West of the Ripper Head Inn.
Hidden path up to an entrance to the cave network.

Once you’ve reached the camp, go to the righthand side and head up the path leaning to the right.

Inside the Ruin Raiders encampment.

Once inside the ruins, head up until you reach the point in the following image and walk to the right.

Take the path right to find the crypt from the Leru’s First Dream Drawing.

Here is the crypt. All you need to do is interact with the skeletons on the left and the hidden door will open.

Interact with the skeletons on the left to reveal the secret entrance.

Enter the secret chamber behind the crypt and interact with the skeleton in the chair. Now you have two of the Strange Fossils.

Interact with the skeleton in the chair to receive the 2nd Strange Fossil.

Head back to Lorthiz to continue the quest.

3.

Poor Lorthiz is losing it, but he’s still able to give cryptic clues from his dreams and another of Leru’s Dream Drawings (is he even drawing these?)

With the Bloodborne vibes increasing, the third and final Strange Fossil is located in an interesting place; the abandoned village you passed through right after arriving in Drova at the beginning of the game.

Leru’s Second Dream Drawing

Make your way back to and follow the road leading North situated next to the bridge between the Woodcutter’s Camp and Nemeton. Just before you reached the blocked entrance to the village there is a slope leading up. Climb the slope and carry on round to the right.

Pass through the broken blockade and head towards the South East corner building in the village.

This is the building in Leru’s Second Dream Drawing, and there is a hidden hatchway in the bottom righthand corner.

Under the dilapidated building is a basement with a harrowing scene. Several skeletons lie on beds with one knelt in prayer at the end of the room. Interact with it to get the last Strange Fossil.

Interact with the kneeling skeleton to get the final Strange Fossil.

Perhaps this room and the Strange Fossil clutched in the kneeling cadaver’s hands are clues to the village’s fate?

4.

One last trip back to speak with a now raving Lorthiz, who gives you a last drawing while jabbering about a lantern and a ring. This is the last step in this quest, and the end of this nightmare.

You’ll be exploring the marshlands to the East of Nemeton. It’s a tricky area to give directions through, and the best I can offer is to travel in a South Easterly direction and look out for a an outcrop of rock.

Leru’s Third Dream Drawing

Head to the bottom of this rocky outcrop and investigate the vines covering the cave entrance to clear them. Enter the cave.

Investigate the thorns covering the cave entrance

The cave houses a familiar looking lantern, glowing an ominous purple light and surrounded by little spirits. Interact with the spirits and give them the three Strange Fossils, and enjoy the bizarre visions your character experiences with each one.

Unlock the ‘Beware of the Old Blood’ trophy/achievement

Congratulations Hunter! You have finished the ‘Dreams of Another World’ quest and earned yourself the ‘Beware of the Old Blood’ trophy/achievement. Be sure to check out the Ring of Blood, your reward for completing the quest, and how it implements Bloodborne’s rally mechanic.

Details of the Ring of Blood quest reward

A wonderful homage to the much beloved Bloodborne capturing its Eldritch horror vibes. Making several nods to the game’s world, and to one of it’s signature mechanics, this is a quest fans of Drova and Bloodborne shouldn’t miss!
