A new action-RPG was revealed recently and it looks very intriguing. Bylina, a game by developer Far Far Games is a game that is focussed on skill-based combat with a narrative that is based around Slavic folklore and legend. Similar to Enotria: The Last Song, I’m really liking these games that take inspiration from other cultures and histories.

You will take on the role of Falconet, a young bogatyr (a stock character in medieval East Slavic legends, akin to a Western European knight-errant, thanks Wikipedia!) who is born without any hero powers. Falconet must overcome challenging odds and a a range of challenges to become a legendary hero! To do this, Falconet is tasked with defeating Koschei the Deathless and saving your immortal soul.
Check out the reveal trailer below:
The plot sees Falconet dying in the Far, Far Kingdom as he tries to follow in his father’s footsteps to becoming a legendary hero! He is, of course, revived (short story otherwise) by a mysterious spirit who he has to share his body with. By defeating Koschei the Deathless, Falconet hopes to reclaim his soul, save the world whilst figuring out more about his new ethereal buddy.

The game is based on Slavic myths and legends which will take you to a range of different locations, including dungeons, sunlit forests and castles. You’ll also have to take on a horde of mythical enemies, which from the trailer, look fairly formidable. You’ll take on these enemies with a variety of weapons and magical spells and you’ll be able to find new and improved weapons and armour as you explore Far, Far Kingdom.
The game aims to make you think and feel about what it is that makes a human soul, and I for one can’t wait to find out.
Bylina releases in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.
