We’ve just learned that the hotly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed into February 2025. This has been noted in a Ubisoft press release, as a result of learnings made during the launch of Star Wars Outlaws. The Tom Clancy developer noted that the extra time would allow the team to apply more polish to final product, noting the game was ‘feature complete’.
In the press release, they also confirmed that despite favourable reviews, Star Wars Outlaws has had a “softer performance” than expected at present. Citing a desire to improve the overall player experience, Ubisoft will be making a concentrated effort to release a number of title updates that will improve the optimisation, polish and tweak the gameplay and improve the overall quality of life of the game. Making a post to the community via the game’s Twitter account, they also noted adjustments to combat and stealth gameplay.

The company’s hope is that they will be able to improve the overall player experience of the game to engage with a wider audience ahead of the Christmas period where they hope the game will be a “strong long-term performer”.
As part of the announcements, it was confirmed that the first Star Wars Outlaws DLC, Wild Card, will release on 21 November 2024. The game will also see a Steam release on the same day. The Wild Card DLC will see “Kay and Nix infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament where they will face off against the legendary Lando Calrissian”. New contracts will also be added to the game, free for all players.
I’m a big fan of Star Wars Outlaws so far, it’s super fun and one of the most realised and detailed worlds I’ve played in, so it’s great to see Ubisoft continuing to support it (though I suspect Disney would be expecting as much). I’m excited for the new DLC and to see where it goes too!
