There's a new game sitting atop the sales charts in the US for the year as College Football made its triumphant return in a big big way.
Today Circana posted the July US sales charts like they do every month. The industry as a whole grew 10% year over year almost exclusively thanks to EA's latest iteration of College Football. College Football was so big in the US it has already surpassed Helldivers 2 as the best selling game of the year. The game is so big even it's EA MVP Bundle is the 5th best selling game of 2024.

Obviously this also means College Football topped the monthly charts as well. The only other newcomer for the month was Nintendo World Championships:NES Edition which debuted in 6th place. As always with Nintendo titles this only includes physical copies of the game.
Elsewhere on the chart there isn't much to report. Elden Ring is holding strong after the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion. The Crew Mororfest, Tekken 8 and Rainbow Six Siege Siege all re-entered the top 20 for the month as well
Hardware Sees Big Spike
Perhaps even more important for the industry is the big spike in hardware as a result of College Football. July was the first month of the year where we saw hardware growth instead of decline.
The PlayStation 5 was once again the best selling console and after months of declining sales saw year over year growth of 25%. Xbox Series consoles came second and saw a big boost of 48% year over year. With College Football not on the Switch that console continues its decline as fans await the Switch 2. The Switch dropped 44% year over year.

If nothing else College Football has proven that there is still such thing as a console seller. Will this translate to a boon in hardware the rest of the year? We will have to wait and see.
