A few days ago it was announced that Humble Games was letting go of most (all?) of it’s staff and “restructuring” the publishing arm of the company. Many fans were upset by this and now we can add a developer to the list of upset people as Coral Island developer Stairway Games has voiced their frustrations and displeasure with the ongoing situation.
Taking to social media on the Coral Island X account the developer offered an update on the development of the hit game as well as where things stand when it comes to a port to the Nintendo Switch, updates to the console versions of Coral Island and more.

Stairway states that because of the uncertainty surrounding the publisher they will be offering Switch backers the opportunity to get a key for the game on steam instead. They also say they have no idea how this will affect updates to the current versions of the game on consoles. They have a hotfix scheduled for steam however the publisher Humble was in charge of things on console and they now have no way to get the update to the console gamers.

Stairway also says they are in communication with their lawyers on their next steps as they found out just like you and I did about the Humble Games restructuring, on social media.
All around this seems like a truly terrible situation. A developer being blindsided about a closure and have no idea of how to get their game and updates out to fans is a tough situation. It sounds like this partnership has been on steady ground for awhile however based on some of the wording in this statement. Hopefully this all turns out well somehow.
