Update: While Xbox has yet to comment you can now set a new auto-redeem game pass subscription at a higher point value which would coincide with the price updates from earlier this week. Hopefully this is the permanent case and the emails being sent out are just poorly worded

Original Story: It appears the new tiers and price increases wern’t the only thing set to change with Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Reward Members are receiving emails saying that as of 8/12/2024 they will “no longer be allowed to use your Rewards points to fund your Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass Subscriptions”

Because the email mentions the auto redeem feature some users think it is simply that function, though the wording certainly seems to suggest the option will be removed altogether. Interestingly there is no mention of Game Pass Core so perhaps it will still be available to use points on. There is also no mention of the new Standard Tier, though that might just be because it doesn’t exist on the Rewards page at the moment.

Many users do their Xbox rewards for the sole reason of redeeming their Xbox Game Pass subscription so this is certainly a blow to those gamers. If anymore information comes we will update this story.
