Top 5 Spells in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Shadow of the Erdtree is easily one of the most talked about topics in gaming at the moment, and with so many people trying this DLC, many are finding it difficult to progress some of the more difficult zones in the game. But with the sorceries and incantations available throughout, the challenge is easily surmountable. If your not a fan of melee, here are our top 5 spells in Shadow of the Erdtree.

5. Light of Miquella

This particular incantation requires a whopping 72 Faith to utilize. It creates pillars of light that for the unsuspecting of us that have not gotten to the end of the DLC is easily capable of destroying us in PvP. However, given the fact that this incantation is gotten so late; regardless of how cool it looks or how much damage it does, it can’t be placed higher than number 5

4. Glintstone Nails

Requiring 32 intelligence, this sorcery is acquired roughly halfway through the DLC through the Count Ymir questline at the Cathedral of Manus Matyr. You must first get to the finger ruins that you are directed to by the Count near the Cerulean Coast. Then after blowing the bell there, return to Count Ymir and he will sell this sorcery.

This spell fires off multiple projectiles that essentially homes in on the target, the tracking of this sorcery works great against moving enemies and does amazing stance damage.

3. Heal From Afar

It’s hard to have a list of the best DLC spells and not include Heal from Afar. Requiring only 18 Faith to use, this incantation is a ranged great heal when you boil it down. However, where this spell shines is the fact that you can look down and heal yourself with this spell or aim it towards your cooperators to heal them in a pinch. In terms of utility incantations this one is probably the best.

2. Pest Thread Spears

Pest Thread Spears is gotten in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh near the Church of the Bud. This is located after the Furnace Golem in the area and to get there you need to get past several Red Pests and go up an elevator and it’ll be nearby. This incantation requires 26 Faith to utilize and basically is just an upgraded pest threads.

This is one of the best spells in the game for fighting the Furnace Golems for its massive stance damage as well as the best incantation for bosses where hitting the head is important such as dragons or the Scadutree Avatar.

1. Impenetrable Thorns

Finally, we have Impenetrable Thorns, the best sorcery in the game bar none. Requiring only 24 Faith to use (keep in mind this is still a sorcery), this spell absolutely shreds most bosses. This is located before the Messmer boss arena, down the stairs across the room and down a few more stairs and there’s a drop-down point near one of the shadow nobles where the sorcery is located.

Against bosses such as Bayle, Messmer and Commander Gaius, this sorcery almost makes those fight trivial with the massive bleed build up that they cause making the fights take less than a minute to beat. These thorns also have a bit of tracking so in PvP it’s quite effective as well. If you can get all three trails of thorns that this sorcery gives off to hit an enemy you will have basically won the fight.

On top of this if you use an arcane scaling staff such as the Maternal Staff then the bleed build up gets boosted even further.

Conclusion

And that’s it for the Top 5 spells for the Elden Ring DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree”. With these sorceries and incantations at your disposal you will surely make short work of the enemies and bosses in the game. As an additional tip if an enemy is resistant to bleed such as the Scadutree Avatar, use Pest Thread Spears instead of the Impenetrable Thorns.
