During a Take-Two Interactive earnings call, it’s been confirmed that the release of the highly anticipated sequel to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto 5 is expected to release in the Autumn / Fall of 2025. So still a while aways.
They also reported a $2.9 billion loss for 1 Jan – 31 March 2024 period. Wow!
Though it is a good 18 months or so from that window, it seems the publisher with GTA 6’s trajectory. “As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion,” said CEO Strauss Zelnick. “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI”.
He also noted that it was down to Rockstar to reveal the actual release date when they are ready, in line with their planned marketing.
I’m sure a whole load of people will be very happy to hear this news, though I also suspect there’ll be a pang of disappointment that it’s not coming sooner. Though of course we must take all release windwos / dates with a pinch of salt, particularly from Rockstar, who have a tendency to delay (and fair play if it’s to achieve the high standards they set themselves to).
I remember them delaying the release of one of the PSP ‘Stories’ games from the GTA franchise by a week, whilst I held copies of it in my hand in the gaming store I used to work in. So, maybe wait till the day you play it to be super sure!
