Finally WWE Has come back!!!!!

WWE 2K24 is this year’s version of the annual 2K studios wrestling game. Far from the failed and bug ridden WWE 2K20 game, this year’s version has new match types, features and one of the best rosters in a long time. Lay your opponent to rest with a casket match, create the greatest stable in “My faction”, lead Smackdown or Raw to new heights in ‘My GM” or become the greatest ever in “My Rise”. This is my review of WWE 2K24.

It feels good getting back into a new wrestling game, being a bit of wrestling nerd I have a deep love of the sport and the games. This isn’t “No Mercy” or ‘Here Come The Pain”, this game is so much fun. The overall gameplay is great, thankfully (as I knock on wood) I haven’t experienced any bugs or crashes during my playthrough so far. This is definitely the best looking wrestling game out there. I love how great some the wrestler models look, from Rhea Ripley to my guy Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

Speaking of Cody, his entrance is just as amazing as it is when watching it on TV. 2K took their time with making sure they got those superstars, their entrances and music just right. The little details make the experience great, hearing the crowd chant along as Seth “Freakin” Rollins comes out or LA Knight say “Yeah” are some of those little things.

The Face, the Heel and the Fun

2K24 brings back the usual modes, My Faction, My GM, Play, Universe Mode, the showcase and My Rise. In “My GM” you get to choose a Brand, not just Smackdown, Raw or NXT; and compete against the computer or a friend to see has the better brand. You use your budget to get superstars and book the best matches and overall shows. I can see the appeal but not something I see myself spending a lot more time and I imagine it would be even more enjoyable competing against a friend.

The “Showcase of the Immortals” takes you through 40 years of WrestleMania moments. From Hogan vs. Andre the Giant to WM20 Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle to the most recent WM39 Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes. As you play through the showcase you get unlockables that you can use in any mode. If you like opening packs and some roguelike elements, My Factions is for you. You build your stable with random wrestlers that you get in packs and you take on daily challenges and weekly towers with your faction. You can also get unlockables to use in the other modes. Universe mode is basically the same as last year, still fun no big changes though.

One of my favorite things to do and what I spend a lot of time in early on is in the creation studio. I love the creation studio, you get to design your wrestler(s) from their entrance, move set, their look and more. You can upload you own logos, fan signs, face textures and so much more to make your wrestler look how you want. Also please let me give a big shoutout to the CAW (create a wrestler) community for 2K24. Before the game even hit full release you had thousands of wrestlers, images, belts, arenas and so much more ready to download. You can find wrestlers from other organizations, retired wrestlers and even superheroes. The CAW community for 2K24 alone is such a great asset to have.

I’ve gone over a lot of the things I love about this game, now its time for us to discuss the bad. overall the game is fun and enjoyable, but sometimes the objectives you have to complete in showcase and my rise are not clear. I’ve had to pause the game several times to get a full understanding or better explanation at what to do. For example, one objective told me to whip my opponent into the corner, did this several times. Paused the game to see the objective actually meant to throw my opponent out the ring and the whip him toward the entrance ramp aisle. Also, the 2K servers are complete toss ups, you never know if you’re going to be able to get into a match or if you can even access the community creations. Part of playing WWE is getting to have those random wild matches online against other people and so far the inconsistent servers make that a task.

Overall, WWE 2K24 is the best wrestling game out right now. It has one of the best rosters it has had in a long time. From the old school wrestlers to the up comers from NXT and with the CAW community you can basically add anybody from any promotion. I’ve spent hours playing through My Rise, which can be completed several times to get unlockables and different variations of your My Rise character story. I’m going to spend even more hours playing through Universe mode, playing online (hoping the servers will improve), playing My Faction and in the creation area. WWE 2K24 is an awesome game, they have mastered mixing the simulation and arcade styles together. If you’re a wrestling fan you’re going to love this game, if you’re just someone who loves good games with replayability you’re going to love this game. Such an easy game to jump in and have fun but a hard game to master for those who strive to be the Undisputed Universal Champion. I give WWE 2K24 an 8.5 out of 10.
