Dragon’s Dogma 2 Launches With Upsetting Micro-transactions

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally here. One of the most hotly anticipated games of the year has officially launched on Steam, with the console releases soon to follow, and unfortunately rather than it being a big RPG celebration, it has turned into a bit of a disaster in the early going thanks to dreaded micro-transactions.

As soon as the game went live a bunch showed up. While most are just the standard affair of outfits and cosmetics, but a few are quite alarming, especially for a fully priced game. It monetizes the ability to fast travel anywhere in the world by buying more Portcrystals which are rare to find in the game as well as many others that some would consider pay to win and take away from the immersion of the game.

While many likely wont care about this since it’s not a competitive multiplayer game, it still bothers many others and is not a great way to launch a game. As a result, the game’s Steam reviews is mostly negative at 34%

Do you care about micro-transactions in single player/co-op games or is this a non issue for you?
