Circana(previously known as the NPD) have released the February sales data for the gaming industry in the US via Mat Piscatella. All sales (hardware, accessories and content) were up 2% year over year.
As was the case with the Europe sales data Helldivers 2 led the way and instantly shot up to the top spot for the year as well. According to Circana nearly 60% of its sales were on Steam and it was the 7th best debut ever for a PlayStation published game in the US.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth came in second and is the 4th best selling game of the year so far. They also released a combo back with the original remake and Rebirth which landed in the 8th place position for the month.

The other big newcomer on the list is Skull & Bones, which appears to be doing better in the US than it is Europe as it finds itself in the 5th position for February. Being a live service game we will see if it can maintain some legs.

Finally the last newcomer on the list is Mario Vs Donkey Kong which finds itself in 11th place.
Hardware Sees Steep Decline
Hardware sales took a nasty fall for the month down 30% overall year over year. This is even worse considering this year February had an extra week of sales. PlayStation was the best seller followed by Nintendo and Xbox. All 3 were down at least 19%.
It will be interesting to see the trends of hardware this year. PlayStation had a historic year in 2023 and will likely regress and with Xbox shipping some games on more platforms the consumer may find it even less appealing. It's something to monitor.
Mobile Sees Huge Gains
The mobile sector had a big month with game revenue up 17% according to Sensor Tower. This was likely due to Monopoly GO now being available and A recent Pokémon GO event that saw the games revenue increase 60%.
