Wyrdsong developer Something Wicked Games reportedly suffers layoffs

Senior Animator Eric Webb posted to LinkedIn today regarding layoffs at the company.

“Heartbreaking news today as Something Wicked Games had to lay off most of their staff,” he posted.

Something Wicked was founded in mid-2022 by Bethesda alums Jeff Gardiner, Charles Staples, and Ekram Rashid. In 2023 another Bethesda alum, Will Shen, joined as a lead content designer.

No information is available regarding how the layoffs will affect Wyrdsong, the game the company has been working on.

To date the video game industry has suffered roughly 8,000 layoffs and is on track to surpass the approximately 10,500 layoffs suffered in 2023.

Something Wicked Games has yet to comment on reported layoffs.
