There isn’t any combat in The Midnight Walk, but that hasn’t stopped the developers from challenging the player to use the Matchstick Launcher item for something other than puzzling. The “Face Your Fears” trophy tasks players with shooting a Grinner, arguably the game’s scariest enemy, right in the face! Well, it might be easier said than done. You will unlock the Matchstick Launcher during Chapter Two when you reach Nobodyville, but won’t encounter the Grinner enemy until Chapter Four.

The first encounter where we could use the Matchstick Launcher to give a Grinner a faceful of fire was after watching the first film about the Craftsman.

During the section where you are avoiding being shot by moving between bits of cover, you have to shoot three candles that are being blocked by a moving statue. There is a matchstick box here to load up from after shooting the candles to proceed.

Continue through the trench and have Potboy hop in the projector to play the film. After it’s over, jump down the open manhole into the sewers below the town.

This is normally a stealth section, where you try to navigate the dark underground while trying not to disturb the sleeping Grinners. Instead, we are going to use it to get our trophy!

Get your Matchstick Launcher ready and trigger a Grinner by touching the iridescent green area around one of them.

The Grinner takes a while to get up, so you have time to move back and charge up the Matchstick Launcher. Where this gets tricky is how quickly the Grinner comes at you once they are up.

Don’t shoot the Grinner until it is running at you with its mask open, exposing its real face. With a charged-up shot, you should be able to hit the Grinner from a decent distance, so don’t wait too long to shoot!

A successful shot will stagger the Grinner for a few seconds, giving you a chance to run away. The trophy should pop up a few seconds after the ordeal. Congratulations!
