PAX East 2026 Spotlight: Soft Source Publishing

As I mentioned in my Day Two coverage of PAX East 2026, we spent a good chunk of that morning over with amazing folks at Soft Source Publishing. Soft Source, based in Singapore, has been an amazing partner to GSC since we met them at PAX East 2025. Our editors Harry and Vee even had the chance to meet Natalyn, our contact point with Soft Source, at Gamescom 2025!

2026 was no different, as we heard from Natalyn the moment that Soft Source was confirmed for PAX East. We got to try out a good amount of all the projects that Soft Source brought along with them, so it’s only fitting to provide a spotlight on this indie publisher!

Bloodbreaker: Labyrinth of the Witch

Bloodbreaker: Labyrinth of the Witch is a Metroidvania with some heavy Gotchic themes going on and focuses on Ayana Crimson. Ayana, an aforementioned Bloodbreaker, must save her brother from the white witch, Brendowyn Sangrianon, using her vampiric skills and wits.

I’ll be the first to admit – I’m not great at Metroidvanias. But gosh darn, but can they be satisfying, especially when you take down a difficult enemy! I found that I honestly…lost track of time while playing this one! It’s challenging, but the design and music make it that much more addicting!

Bloodbreaker: Labyrinth of the Witch will be coming to PC, but currently has no tentative launch date (per Steam).

Grim Trials

  • Developer: Glory Jam
  • Release Date: TBA
  • Platform: PC (Steam)

Grim Trials was played by my better half and fellow editor, Candy, as she is a fiend when it comes to hack-and-slash roguelikes. A quick summative statement from her was that she enjoyed it! But I’ll give you all a little more than that!

Grim Trials follows the story of Avelin, a young (and dead) woman who has been recruited to be on the Reapers to Death themself. Grim Trials, as the name implies, is all about the trials that Avelin underwent to become one of these feared Reapers.

Boasting near-endless hex grid arenas filled with all manner of nasty things, coupled with a heavy metal soundtrack, Grim Trials will be right up there with the fans of the likes of Hades and Doom.

Grim Trials will be coming to PC at a currently unannounced time.

Mighty Knight Legacy

Mighty Knight Legacy hearkens back to the old couch co-op beat ‘em ups – to the point that Soft Source included a big beanbag chair in their area for playing! Myself and Nat had a chance to play two separate runs of the game, as the game itself is also a roguelike! And it’s also so stinking cute too, with regards to the art style!

Mighty Knight Legacy can be played solo with AI companions, or in a local couch co-op style, and features a wide variety of playable classes, each with their own unique abilities and attack patterns. And as the game is a roguelike, each victory allows for a choice of what you want your next reward to be! The game itself was a lot of fun and the combat mechanics felt very smooth and intuitive!

Mighty Knight Legacy will be coming to PC at an undisclosed date.

Spook-A-Boo

  • Developer: Wala Interactive
  • Release Date: TBA
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation

Myself, Candy, Natalyn, and another Soft Source team member, Iain, all sat down to play a nice (it was) and calm (it wasn’t) few rounds of Spook-A-Boo. Spook-A-Boo is a co-op physics game in which you and up to three other friends are hunting ghosts! Here’s the thing. Those ghosts aren’t going to get trapped willingly. And those hunt locations? Yeah, they’re totally not peppered with all manner of environmental hazards and barriers!

The game was an absolute riot to play. It’s silly. You can kick ghosts. Kick your friends. Heck, kick everything! And here’s the best part – it’s showing that this game will feature both local co-op, as well as Remote Play! Who knows – maybe we’ll eventually see a final version with Spook-A-Boo has full online co-op play.

Spook-A-Boo, while without a current release date, will be coming to nearly all platforms at launch!

Gloom Punks

  • Developer: OneShark
  • Release Date: Q2 2026
  • Platform: PC (Steam)

Gloom Punks was one of the last projects that I got a look at with Soft Source, and is a 2D side-scroller PVE game. The game itself focuses on escaping a dungeon to end up in an awful landscape of dreams and fairytales gone wrong. You, and other Punks like yourself, must forge your way through various perils to upgrade your gear and weapons, as well as unlocking unique perks. Perks, which to be activated, sometimes require a sacrifice.

One unique caveat that I was unaware of when trying out Gloom Punks is that it has co-op capacity, both local and online! As a roguelike, this will obviously lend itself to some absolutely broken synergies amongst a team. If the concept of a roguelike meets beat ‘em up appeals to some instinct, why not give Gloom Punks a try!

Gloom Punks is slated for a Q2 launch in 2026 and currently has a demo available through Steam.

That covers our spotlight on Soft Source Publishing at PAX East! Many thanks to both Soft Source, as well as Natalyn, for their continued camaraderie in the gaming space!
