The cost of buying a PS5, PS5 Pro and a PlayStation Portal is going to be more expensive from early next month.
Bad news, everyone! Sony have confirmed that the prices of its hardware is going up from next week! Citing “continued pressures in the global economic landscape” the cost of PlayStation 5 consoles, including the souped up PS5 Pro will be increasing. On top of that the cost of the handheld PlayStation Portal will also be increasing.
And for the consoles, these don’t seem to be minor increases. Looking at the RRP for PS5 consoles in the UK, all the consoles are receiving a £90 increase. In the US, prices for the standard PS5s are going up by $100 each, with the PS5 Pro increasing by an eye-watering $150.
It’s not too long ago that the price of the consoles were increased. Back in August 2025, the RRP of PS5s in the Us were increased by $50, again citing the “challenging econnomic envrionment”.
You can see the new prices below for the major regions. The new prices will come into effect from 2 April 2026.

Sounds like if you were planning on picking up any PlayStation hardware, now is the time before the new prices come into play. I know I had been eyeing up a PlayStation Portal, and £20 increase in the UK isn’t terrible.
I suspect it won’t be long before Nintendo or Xbox see price increases too, but that’s probably the cynic in me. Xbox did have its own price increase a month after Sony’s last jump, so we’ll have to see.
