Nintendo has released a demo for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, allowing players to give their Miis a head-start on their new island lives ahead of the game’s launch next month.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a slapstick life-sim game where players monitor an island of Mii characters and manage their lives and relationships. The game is a follow-up to the 2013 3DS cult classic (which was localized in 2014), and continues a series that started on the Nintendo DS.
The demo, which is available now on the Nintendo eShop, allows players to jump into the opening hours of the game and create up to three Miis to live on their island. This includes the full suite of Mii customization options, which is already proving to be potentially the most dense character creator in a Nintendo game yet, and some light island customization. Best of all, save data from this demo will transfer to the full game on April 16.

Finishing the demo will also grant players early access to a hamster costume that they can deck their Mii characters out in when the full game releases. Nintendo has claimed that this costume can also be unlocked in the main game, however.
Players can also get a start on decorating their island itself, which can be shaped and arranged any way they please earlier and easier than in games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon: Pokopia, given that the appeal for Tomodachi Life is rooted more in its social elements.
