Screamer – Smooth Race Achievement Guide

Milestone Games has revived the classic Screamer franchise. With the first new game in over 30 years the studio has brought some action packed racing to modern consoles and PC. That of course comes with achievements! With this guide we will help you earn the “Smooth Race” achievement or trophy.

The Smooth Race achievement is for winning a race in which you used the overdrive skill without blowing up. In order to use Overdrive in Screamer you first need to build up your sync enough by boosting. Your sync is the bar at the top of your screen on the right hand side. Every time you boost, your sync will go up 1 until it is full. Once full you will get a prompt to use Overdrive by pressing in both sticks at the same time.

Now while this sounds pretty easy, the catch with Overdrive is after so long your car will explode the second you even slightly touch a wall. Considering Overdrive puts you in a super speed state, it can be quite hard to control your car once you get up to these speeds, especially on Screamer tracks with so many twists and turns.

Simply Solution

So first you will need to head to the arcade and select either Race or Team Race. You can do this on basically any track you would like to and with any character. But for the simplicity of this achievement we suggest making sure you are on Very Easy for the AI, though that’s entirely up to you.

Start the race on whatever track you’d like (we recommend Downtown Run) and build up your Overdrive. Now if you think you can do it without crashing by all means go ahead and press it. But for the simplest way to do this you will want to hold your Overdrive until you are near the finish line of the very last lap.

Most finish lines are on a long straight away and you can see it from quite a distance away. So once you do see it you will then want to activate your Overdrive, crossing the finish line with it still active and unlocking the achievement. It’s not the most entertaining way to unlock this but it gets the job done!

And that’s all there is to this one. It’s hard at first glance but not too bad with the right strategy. We hope this guide helped you on your journey towards the 100% completion of Screamer. Check below for all our other Screamer related guides.
