Pokemon Champions Announces Switch Release Date

Pokemon fans are eating well this year with the release of Pokopia just a few weeks ago and now the upcoming release of Pokemon Champions. We knew Nintendo would be showing off gameplay at Pax East later this week but now we have a release date. Pokemon Champions will arrive on Switch on April 8th. For those who are Switch 2 owners, there will be a free update for even better graphics. Pokemon Champions is being advertised as a free to start game. You can get your Pokemon fill without having to spend money right away.

Obtain battle ready Pokemon by connecting to the Pokemon Home app and linking the app to Pokemon Champions. You can also recruit Pokemon once per day right in the Pokemon Champions game if you don’t want to connect your games. Make note that recruited Pokemon can only be used for a certain about of time. Recruited Pokemon also only remain with you for a week typically.

Fight Pokemon trainers around the world and select a six monster line up that is most advantageous against your opponents team of six. There will be different battle formats in Pokemon Champions such as single or double battles. The game comes with three different battle modes such as ranked, casual, and private so you can compete just against friends or whoever you give your room ID too. You can also look at online competitions and compete in a rule set that will change each season.

Earn VP to change the moves your Pokemon can learn, change it’s nature, and more upon release of the game. Want to increase your Pokemon’s stats? You can using these points. Want to recruit more than once per day? You can also do that with VP. Additionally if you want to keep your recruited Pokemon permanently you can spend VP on this as well. VP will also allow you to purchase items from the shop for items to help your Pokemon. VP also allows you to customize your trainer and battle music.

Should I wait to check it out?

If you’re a Pokemon fan who really wants a Dragonite then no! Nintendo has shared that “players who download the game before a certain date will be able to claim a Dragonite from their in-game mailbox. Keep playing, and you can receive a Dragoninite stone via the Battle Pass, which will allow Dragonite to Mega Evolve into Mega Dragonite.”

After downloading the game, be sure to connect Pokemon Home especially if you’ve already played Pokemon: Legends Z-A. If you’ve befriended Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, and/or Eternal Flower Floette have them visit Pokemon Champions to receive the stones required to Mega Evolve them.

Plus, the game is free to start so there isn’t really a reason not to test your Pokemon against other trainers.

Wishlist Pokemon Champions today for Switch. It has no yet been announced for Android and iOS but we’ll share those dates when they are available.

Will you be spending the next two weeks moving your Pokemon into Pokemon home to have them compete on April 8th? Let us know in the comments down below. Feel free to also join the Gamer Social Club discord and find other Pokemon trainers to battle.
