Update #2: Most users are now reporting that they are able to login and things seem to be back to normal.
Update #1: After about a 2 hour outage it appears that things are back to normal. The Status page now shows everything is systems go. I guess PlayStation just wanted its gamers wanted to take a break and touch some grass (or snow?).
Many users are still reporting issues despite the change however. Hopefully that means the servers are just trying to catch up. PlayStation has yet to comment on the issue.
Original Story: If you were planning to get some gaming in on PlayStation this weekend, we may have some bad news for you. Currently the PlayStation Network is dealing with issues leaving many unable to access their games.
The issue started about an hour ago for many at 4:30pm EST. Since then, the PlayStation Status page has flipped to show that “some services are experiencing issues.” The affected segment has been the Gaming and Social section that states you “might have difficulty launching games, apps or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
The issue is affecting both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users and appears to be a global issue. Luckily it isn’t currently affecting everyone and many gamers say they are online playing. Typically, these types of issues only affect those who are trying to log in rather than those already online.
Needless to say, if you are online and need to step away, perhaps keep your PlayStation on and logged in! We will update this story as we get updates.
