FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment’s three-player, cooperative first-person shooter, has received its last major update with the ‘Open House’ update, with no more playable content being released going forward. The team has stressed that the game will remain online and be “playable for years to come”, with work already done to sustain it as the player count decreases.
In a press release and post on the FBC: Firebreak Steam page, Game Director Mike Kayatta described the game as “built by a team fueled by passion and experimentation,” and that they “want to make sure those moments can continue for the players who are already here, and for anyone else looking for a high-energy, low-pressure game night with friends.”

Before we get into the content that has been added to FBC Firebreak, it’s worth highlighting the other two changes that Remedy has made to try to draw more players to the game. First off, the price for FBC: Firebreak has been lowered to:
Base Game – $19.99 / €19.99 / £16.74
Deluxe Edition – $29.99 / €29.99 / £26.74
There is also a further 20% off on Steam until the end of March. The other attempt to revitalise the game is the introduction of the Friend’s Pass, which allows up to two people to play with someone who owns the game. People using the Friend’s Pass still enjoy all gameplay features and progression, but cannot start a game without joining an existing lobby or creating their own lobbies. Once your teammates have installed the Friend’s Pass on their device, send them a party code or platform invite, and you’re all set!

The Open House update is bringing a bunch of new content to FBC: Firebreak, starting with five new arenas inspired by locations in the original CONTROL, now playable exclusively in Endless Shift mode. The arenas and their inspirations are:
- Cafeteria (Executive Sector)
- Aircon Room (Maintenance Sector)
- Ranger HQ (Maintenance Sector)
- Turntable (Containment Sector)
- Ritual Lobby (Research Sector)
Both Harmful Conditions and healing have been adjusted, with Burning, Glowing, and Shocked lingering for a shorter time, and all water sources now restore a small amount of health. UI adjustments have also been implemented to give these elements more clarity.
The Perks system has also been given an overhaul, allowing players to equip up to nine level-3 Perks, allowing for much stronger and more flexible lodaouts. Weapons will now perform more consistently across difficulty levels, while enemy health and scaling have been adjusted to keep combat challenging. The other Quality-of-Life improvements the devs have highlighted are:
- Revive speed increased from 5 seconds to 3 seconds
- Crawling speed increased when downed
- Closest Neutralizer is now always marked in the HUD
Full details about these and other adjustments can be found in the separate patch notes.

Finally, Twitch Drops for FBC: Firebreak are back, giving players a chance to earn two new cosmetic sets to take into the field. Watching a total of 3 hours of FBC: Firebreak streams on Twitch to unlock:
Researcher Armor Set (Threshold Revision)
Overseer Armor Set (Threshold Revision)
The Open House Twitch Drops campaign runs from March 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM PDT / 5:00 PM GMT until April 12, 2026, at 1:59 PM PDT / 9:59 PM GMT
It is no secret that FBC: Firebreak has struggled since it launched last year, but it is great to see Remedy Entertainment doing what it can to leave the game in a stable, playable, and its most approachable state for the fans. No doubt the studio is now focusing most of its time and efforts on the upcoming CONTROL Resonant, which is releasing sometime this year, so it makes sense that FBC: Firebreak be given its final orders. We’ll just have to see if the Open House update is enough to bring more FBC agents back to the Oldest House.
