It’s been two and a half long years since Starfield, the lukewarm received space adventure from Bethesda that was in development for years before finally releasing as an Xbox console exclusive, alongside a PC release.
Bethesda titles are well known for having a long tale of quality DLC packs – I’m looking at you Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas (even if it was an Obsidian title) – though, other than the mediocre and largely forgotten, Shattered Space, little has come from Starfield post-launch.
The title remains an Xbox console exclusive despite the majority of Xbox games making their way to other platforms. Last year, Bethesda teased fans of an exciting 2025 but very little materialised. With fans eager to know what the future holds for Starfield, the studio have revealed that they’ll share more later this week:
We ran this by Todd and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.

We knew that the likes of Kinda Funny Games Greg Miller, a known advocate for the game had been at Bethesda last week. That the studio have brought high-profile influencers through their doors suggests this is little more than a few quality-of-life updates.
A personal expectation is that the game finally comes to PlayStation 5 within a few weeks of this update. I don’t think a full 2.0 rebuild to fix players concerns about travel, exploration and many barren spaces is something within scope of changing, but we shall certainly see in the days ahead. Starfield is a game that would certainly benefit from a new lease of intergalactic life.
