One of the most innovative, beautiful and exciting indies in development, Project Shadowglass has finally revealed its gameplay in its latest trailer.
Project Shadowglass draws inspiration from games like Thief, Deus Ex and System Shock, but overlays that influence with a wonderful pixel art style that has drawn in many fans since the game’s reveal – including 100,000 wishlists. Earlier this year we called it ‘one of the most beautiful games you will see this year’.
Today at the Future Games Show, we at last got to see how the game actually plays.
The pre-alpha gameplay reveal from Starhelm Studios of their medieval RPG showcases its parkour mechanics, combat and engaging with the citizens of the town. It’d appear that the world of the game isn’t huge, rather a contained castle and surrounding area. But that can only be a good thing for world building, NPC interactions and secrets. At 00:52 in the trailer, we see the player pull a lever to find a gem behind a picture, I’m sure there’ll be a bucket load more to find.
The stealth elements from the trailer look very promising with take downs from behind and putting out the lights with water-based arrows. In one scene, the player puts down a puddle for an unsuspecting guard to go flying over.
The game is still in early development and a release window is not provided. Though, things are definitely moving at a promising pace as it was also confirmed that a demo will be coming to Steam later this year.
