Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Yoshi title, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, will launch on May 21st, 2026.
The game is a 2D platformer that sees Yoshi traverse through a sentient encyclopedia named Mr. E. The graphics are inspired by children’s stories and education books, and looks to be quite a visually unique platformer. Gameplay also has more emphasis on exploration and discovery as you experiment with the different abilities of the creatures you discover.
The Mysterious Book follows the trend of having the Yoshi games’ aesthetic choices tie into the gameplay, by logging any new discoveries Yoshi makes within the book, and allowing Yoshi to name new creatures he discovers. This trend started with the underrated Yoshi’s Woolly World, which had a yarn-based aesthetic. Yoshi’s Crafted World followed, which saw an arts and crafts style.

Yoshi is being pushed heavily in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie, so launching a game starring him shortly after is a no-brainer for Nintendo.
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on May 21st, 2026.
