Have you been wanting to start your next run in Marathon and realized you are pretty low on ammo? Did you just go into the run thinking you’d find some and struggled to? If that sounds like you, you certainly aren’t alone, I know I was doing it to start. Thankfully there’s an easy fix and this guide is here to help you obtain more ammo in Marathon.

While Marathon has a lot right going for it, one thing that is….frustrating is its UI in the menu. Bungie doesn’t really do a great job of explaining much to you either which makes it all the more frustrating. It’s without a doubt the worst part of the game in my opinion so far. 

With that said you will likely spend some time staring at the menu wondering what you should sell, what you should keep and what you should bring with you for your next run. Of course that includes weapons and ammo, but you are likely very low on ammo, especially if you failed to extract in your last run. So what to do about that?

Purchase Ammo From Armory

Turns out you can indeed buy ammo for your runs. In the loadout screen you can go to the top right corner to the Armory. From here you can see a variety of things available for purchase. If you select the CyberAcme faction on the left side of the screen you wiil then see different types of ammo you can purchase.

Now there is a drawback to this as purchasing ammo can get quite expensive, especially if you aren’t extracting very often, so keep that in mind when you are going to buy ammo. But without ammo, you are probably going to struggle to extract anyway, so you definitely want to ensure you have enough.

Salvage Unstable Gunmetal

There are other ways of course to get ammo, and of course picking up ammo through a run is always a solid option. One thing that players can keep an eye out for though is salvage type items. These items can be bartered in the armory to help you get certain items. While you can sell them it is worth checking the description of these items to see what you can get for them.

In the case of looking for ammo however, the specific item you will be looking for is Unstable Gunmetal which can be bartered with the CyberAcme faction. While it is fairly rare to find anytime you do find it out on the run it is definitely worth keeping if you are looking for more ammo for future runs.
