The Pokémon Company has announced its first limited-time event coming to its brand new game, Pokémon Pokopia. The game has released to critically acclaimed reviews, currently sitting at a 88 on Metacritic, the 2nd highest rated game of the year so far.
Titled “More Spores for Hoppip” will run from this coming Monday, March 9th, until Tuesday, March 24th. The event will cause cotton spores to appear, which can be collected to turn into for special furniture items. Exchanging for these items will allow you to befriend the three cottonweed pokémon, Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff.
As of right now, this has been announced to be a limited-time event, and after the event period, you will not be able to get these items or the 3 pokémon in your world to befriend. Events like this are not new to the Pokémon series, as limited raid events and distribution are very common in the main series.
Whether this event comes back around or not will remain to be seen, but I have high hopes, as Animal Crossing New Horizons also had limited in-game events, that have eventually come back around.

In Game Bonus Item
As is typical in Pokémon games, there will usually be a launch-day bonus to incentivize players to purchase the game early. For Pokopia, if you purchase the game before January 31, 2027, you will be able to go to the mystery gift menu and redeem yourself a Ditto rug, which can be used to decorate any of your buildings in the game.
It’s a nice nod to the main character of the game, being able to have a rug with your face on it! We can expect more mystery gift items down the pipeline as well.
Will you be jumping into Pokémon Pokopia to experience this limited-time event and claim your Ditto rug? Let us know down in the comments, or hop over to the Gamer Social Club Discord to chat with us there! Pokémon Pokopia is available now for the Nintendo Switch 2.
