Bandai Namco have announced Echoes of Aincrad, a new action-RPG set in the Sword Art Online universe. The game sees you create your own character as you explore and battle through the floating castle of Aincard in an original story.

At first glance, the game looks somewhat similar to a soulslike although flashier and a bit faster paced just based on what was shown briefly throughout the trailer. I won’t be surprised to see the game be compared to Bamco’s Code Vein series which combined soulslikes with elements of the God Eater games.

Sword Art Online is no stranger to games. The series has had nearly 2 dozen games released since 2013. Their reception has mostly been mixed however. Some fans are saying that Echoes of Aincrad looks like the RPG they’ve wanted from the series for a long time so maybe this will be the one that hits it for fans of the franchise.

You won’t have to wait too long to play Echoes Of Aincrad as the game is set to launch on July 10 2026. The game will launch on Xbox Series, PS5 and PC.

A lifelong gamer who enjoys playing on every platform. Eventually, I grew to love fighting games in particular and began to compete and even win competitions for some games, primarily the 2013 revival of killer instinct. Outside of gaming I also have aspirations of being a comic book artist with a few ideas of my own im developing in my head. When reviewing any game I try to keep my mind open and avoid nitpicking too much. It takes a lot for something to detract me from truly enjoying it so I may not focus on smaller details the way some others might do. I enjoy almost any genre, just don't ask me to play horror games or puzzle games.
