Do you remember those search and find books from when we were kids? Where you had to find objects hidden in a chaotic scene? Well if you’ve been looking to scratch that nostalgic itch, have I got the game for you. An adorable hidden object puzzle game by developers Bit Egg Inc, called Lost and Found Co.
In Lost and Found Co. follow the unlikely pair Ducky, an adorable duck turned human, and his newest employer, Goddess Mei. The Dragon Goddess Mei was once revered as a powerful guardian, yet as time passed her once beautiful shrine transformed into nothing. After an influencer’s lost object sparks a bold idea, Mei sees an opportunity to restore the people of Plumville’s faith in her once more. Determined to stop the destruction of her shrine, she recruits Ducky the “lucky duck” as the newest intern for her lost and found company.
Gameplay
Lost and Found Co. has a simple point and click gameplay. Pictures of lost objects will appear at the bottom of the screen, and it’s up to players to find them in the scene. Each found item earns you points (and coins! More on that later) to unlock new levels, and unfold more of the story. Some levels will require you to do extra requests to gain points.
As you progress the more items you’ll need to find, and the more difficult it will be. Explore the realm by clicking on the interactive objects and characters. You never know what you’ll find. Some will uncover missing pieces, or fun secrets and surprises!
Now players aren’t just thrown into the fire, each object has a hint of its location to go along with it. And if you still are having trouble you can use a “juju” to reveal an extra clue to its whereabouts. Juju are black blob mischief makers hidden within each scene. By unveiling them, you gain hint points to use when you’re stuck in your search.
There is also no time limit for each level in Lost and Found Co. Take your time, step away and come back. Sometimes fresh eyes give you a new perspective.
Customization
Yes, even in a search and find game there is always room for customization. Players can take their hard earned coins and buy furniture and other decor to liven up your space. Decor can also be obtained through gifts in the mail from previous clients.
Decoration isn’t just placing a piece of furniture, players can also layer décor to fuel your interior designer dreams. Place everything from beds and couches, to beloved characters and pets. There are even different color and design options for certain objects. So many options to choose from.
Art Style & Sound
Lost and Found Co. has such a lovely hand-drawn art style. The bright colors and bubbly cartoon charm bring so much life into this game. There isn’t much animation per say, but rather soft movements that keep players entertained without being overstimulating.
Sounds also bring so much life to Lost and Found Co. The game has overall soothing background music, but where it really shines is the noises that come from interacting with objects. With a satisfying plunk or corresponding sound, the game really submerses you into each realm whether seaside, in a forest or in the middle of a city.
Final Thoughts
The beauty of a game like Lost and Found Co. is its a leveled up version of games we played as kids. It steps into the simple joy of search and find without the overcomplication. As adults we so often are surrounded by constant hustle and pressure that we gravitate that nostalgia to bring us back to a more carefree time.
While Lost and Found Co. is still enough of a challenge to be interesting, it never puts too much pressure to feel overwhelming. That perfect balance of relaxing and critical thinking, but at your own pace.
